Your Scotch Guard should be professionally applied!

Just spray it on right? Well..........

As with anything there's a right way and a wrong way.

The first thing to consider is the product itself. Make sure it is a commercial grade Scotch Guard. The off the shelf, residential products, are low grade, and do not provide good results, or last very long. Think of it as Dawn Dish washing liquid versus Walmart brand, or Tide clothes detergent versus everything else. You can see the difference.
Wear your booties when applying Scotch guard!
It should be mixed by a trained professional each day so it is fresh and at max strength when applied.
Can be applied to wet or dry carpets. Less product will be used when applied to freshly Steam cleaned - Carpets, Upholstered Furniture, Draperies and Rugs. Ensure you are wearing Booties (Shoe covers) when applying Scotch guard.

Applying Scotch Guard:
For wet, freshly steam cleaned carpet, apply a light coat north to south, and a light coat east to west. Use a carpet rake to rake in product ensuring through and even coverage allowing scotch guard to penetrate every single carpet fiber.
For Dry Carpet, vacuum first. Remove all dirt and stains. Turn off any Fans, as you do not want the Scotch guard to dry prior to being raked in. Spray heavily in both directions - north to south and east to west. Use a carpet rake to rake in product ensuring even through and even coverage, allowing scotch guard to penetrate every single carpet fiber.
